PDF terrorists attempted to disrupt the peaceful and joyful celebration of Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan Festival by targeting residential towns, villages, and urban wards with rocket attacks. Their intent was reportedly to stoke public fear and cause instability.

Acting on a tip-off from a vigilant citizen, security forces discovered a 107mm short-range rocket near the jetty on the Chindwin River in South Monywa Ward, Monywa, Sagaing Region. The rocket was targeted at Monywa and intended to be fired at about 12:55 pm yesterday. Security personnel successfully defused and seized the rocket.

These PDF terrorists deliberately attempted to launch an unprovoked attack on civilians celebrating the Myanmar New Year. In response, security forces have stepped up necessary security measures in the area and are continuing operations to maintain public safety.
