THE winners in canoe/kayak, taekwondo, and judo returned to Yangon International Airport yesterday evening on Myanmar Airways International (MAI), where they were welcomed back by officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education, as well as by the parents and relatives of the athletes.

The sports teams competed in the 33rd South-East Asian Games, which were held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 9 to 20 December.

At the Games, Myo Hlaing Win won three silver medals in the 500-metre singles, 200-metre doubles, and 200-metre quadruple canoe/kayak events. In taekwondo, Kay Thwe Mon Lin won a silver medal in the 67-kilogramme attack event. Zaw Lin Htet won a bronze medal in the 80-kilogramme attack event Hein Htet Thu won a bronze in the 68-kilogramme attack event. Htaik Htaik Kyaw won a bronze in the men’s 55-kilogramme judo competition. Additionally, Hlaing Min Khan secured a bronze medal in the men’s doubles “Khata” competition.
