Drug enforcement police seized stimulant tablets worth K140 million in Thazi Township and Taunggyi, while another K6 million worth of stimulant tablets were confiscated in Tachilek Township, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
A combined team led by the Drug Enforcement Division stopped and searched a passenger bus travelling from Taunggyi to Yangon near Kywetatson Village in Thazi Township at about 9:30 pm on 4 June. Officers found 90,000 stimulant tablets in the possession of 36-year-old Thet Ko Win from Ward (L), North Okkalapa Township. The tablets were valued at K135 million based on the local market price of K1,500 per tablet. Police also seized K30,000 in cash.
Following further investigations, officers raided a house in Area 7, Phaya Phyu Ward, Taunggyi, at about 4 am on 5 June. They arrested 31-year-old Sai Nyunt (aka) Min Nyunt, who allegedly arranged the transport of the drugs, and 41-year-old Aung Ko Ko (aka) Thar Nge from Area 15, Yayayekwin Ward. During the search, police seized a further 10,000 stimulant tablets valued at K5 million, based on a local market price of K500 per tablet.
Authorities have taken legal action against Thet Ko Win, Sai Nyunt (aka) Min Nyunt, and Aung Ko Ko (aka) Thar Nge under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
In a separate case, a combined anti-narcotics team acting on a tip-off searched a Wave I 110 motorcycle near Par Bee (3) Village in Tachilek Township, at about 1:30 pm on 5 June. The motorcycle was being driven by 33-year-old Law Pi from Kathtike Village, Kengtung Township.
During the search, officers seized 10,000 stimulant tablets valued at K6 million, based on a local market price of K600 per tablet. Authorities have taken legal action against Law Pi under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, according to the report. — MNA/KZL
