UNION Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint presided over a meeting with the Myanmar Digital Media Association Formation Committee via videoconferencing yesterday afternoon.

In his opening remark, the Union Minister appreciated the objectives of the association, including systematic development of digital media in Myanmar and sharing digital knowledge in this sector.

He also offered the assistance of the ministry in the formation of association as it is believed to be beneficial to its members and the country.

Chairman of committee U Thaung Su Nyein reported on the activities of his committee, online discussions, possible capacity-building courses of the association for the youth, work plans for technology development, employment opportunities, supports of association for digital media and economic development of the country and the requirement of association’s headquarters.

Vice-Chairman of committee U Ko Ko ( Ko Ko-RIT) discussed drafting a term of reference for the association, definition of digital media and criteria of the association members and the organization structure.

Vice-Chairperson Daw Nan Kalyar Win talked about the normal or online election of Myanmar Digital Media Association by 25 December or in early January.

Secretary of Committee U Min Swe Hlaing made discussions on the human resource development plan of the association and setting up an appropriate office.

In his discussion, Deputy Minister U Aung Hla Tun remarked the unending role of media in a democratic society and the need of digital media development in the country amid the momentum of digital transformation in the world.
