The group of Defence Services Personnel representatives held a meeting on the selection of the Vice-President in accord with the law and rules of election for the President and Vice-President at the Hsinbyushin Hall in the Nay Pyi Taw Transit Centre yesterday morning.

Maj-Gen Ye Kyaw Thu, Defence Services Personnel Representative of Pyithu Hluttaw, presided over the meeting. He stated that as all 166 Defence Services Hluttaw representatives who were entitled to attend were present, achieving full attendance, it was announced that the meeting of the group of Defence Services Personnel Hluttaw representatives had a quorum and was duly convened.

The meeting chair explained the law, rules and procedures for the election of the Vice-President. The group of Defence Services Personnel representatives submitted the proposals to elect the Vice-President to the meeting chair.

Maj-Gen Kyaw Thura Aye, Defence Services Personnel representative of the Amyotha Hluttaw, nominated U Nyo Saw (Pyithu Hluttaw representative of the Cocokyun Constituency) as the Vice-President elected by the group of the Defence Services Personnel representatives and Brig-Gen Soe Nyunt, Defence Services Personnel representative of the Pyithu Hluttaw, seconded it.

Due to no objection to the proposal, the meeting approved U Nyo Saw (Pyithu Hluttaw representative of the Cocokyun Constituency) as the Vice-President elected by the group of Defence Services Personnel representatives, and it will be submitted to the Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. — MNA/TTA
