The Thai Songkran Festival 2026, hosted by the Embassy of Thailand in Yangon, was held at 5:30 pm yesterday at the residence of the Thai Ambassador on Pyay Road, Dagon Township, Yangon.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Hsan Oo and his wife, Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint and his wife, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu and his wife, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors and chargés d’affaires ad interim from foreign embassies based in Yangon, United Nations resident representatives, and invited guests.
At the start of the event, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Thai Embassy Mr Yordying Sypasri, and officials, warmly welcomed Union Minister U Hsan Oo, his wife, and the other attendees. Following this, Mr Yordying Supasri extended greetings, which was succeeded by a speech from Mr Kallayana Vipattipumiiprates, Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
Subsequently, Union Minister U Hsan Oo delivered a speech and officially opened the ceremony by beating the ceremonial gong three times. The Union Ministers, the Thai Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, the Adviser to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the guests then took a group photograph.
Afterwards, they enjoyed cultural dance performances by Myanmar and Thai troupes and toured the stalls featuring traditional Thai food.
