THE Ministry of Labour has issued this notification exercising the authority as per Subsection (b) of Section 31 of the Law Relating to Overseas Employment.

  1. Myanmar migrants working abroad must transmit 25 per cent of their monthly wages once a month or at least three-month wages once every three months at least 25 per cent of total wages to their families or to their bank accounts through the official banking system, authorized Remittance Business Licence (RBL) and international remittance services linked with the banking system.
  2. To be able to enjoy the officially transferred money to the families through the methods mentioned in paragraph 1 as disclosed income, the money transfer receipts must be kept carefully.
  3. Those working abroad via licensed overseas employment agencies must send their money transfer receipts back to their respective agencies without fail.
  4. The licensed overseas employment agencies must facilitate the money transfer processes of their workers and must submit these monthly remittances to the Ministry of Labour as monthly reports without fail.
  5. When Myanmar migrant workers abroad fail to transfer to their families as per the methods of paragraph 1, they will be banned from departing abroad with job prospects under limited duration, granting Overseas Worker Identification Cards – OWIC and renewing passports.
  6. Myanmar migrant workers should not transfer their wages to their families via illegal Hundi brokers but must transfer via official networks.
