THE Kayah State People’s Party (KySPP) applied to the Union Election Commission for the right to establish as a political party under Section 3 of the Registration of Political Parties Law to compete in a multiparty democratic general election yesterday.

To date, 18 parties have applied in compliance with Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and 50 parties have applied for the right to continue as political parties and registration under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, bringing the total to 68 parties.

The Union Election Commission continues to verify the group that applied to establish a party.
