THE opening ceremony for the Modern Handicraft Training School Project and the graduation ceremony for the first garment-making course were held yesterday afternoon at the No 2 Industrial Training School (Mandalay), located in Mandalay Region.
Union Minister Dr Charlie Than joined the event virtually from Nay Pyi Taw, while Deputy Minister U Yin Maung Nyunt, ministers from the Mandalay Region government, representatives from Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute (GXETVI), Shenzhen Bok Times Technology and Development Co Ltd., and Nanning Orient Dayjtonz Import & Export Co Ltd., along with officials and trainees, attended in person.
In his address, the Union minister noted that Memorandums of Understanding had been signed with GXETVI of China to establish the Modern Craftsmanship Institute for Textile and Clothing and the Textile and Apparel Industry Workers Training Centre, known as the Luban Workshop to support the growth of Myanmar’s garment sector.
Following the minister’s address, the Mandalay Region’s minister for Economy, Mr Luo Shengfang, Principal of GXETVI, and Mr Xie Weidong, General Manager of Nanning Orient Dayjtonz Import & Export Co Ltd, delivered speeches. Mr Xie Weidong and the principal of No 2 Industrial Training School then exchanged videos showcasing the project’s progress.
The principal of No 2 Industrial Training School discussed the school’s training programmes, and Mr Luo Shengfang announced the list of graduates, awarding certificates of honour to outstanding trainees. Finally, a trainee representative expressed gratitude on behalf of the graduates.
