Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win observed the high school level essay competition under the theme for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future” at BEHS 11 in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
A total of 84 students from basic high schools in eight townships in Nay Pyi Taw participated in the competition. Winners will be awarded at the State level International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) ceremony to be held on 3 December in Nay Pyi Taw.
At noon, the Union minister received UNOCHA chief Mr Sajjad Mohammad Sajid at the ministry.
During the meeting, the two parties exchanged views on humanitarian assistance for the displaced persons and those who need help in Myanmar, findings and suggestions of UN organizations and humanitarian organizations in New York during their visit to Myanmar, and plan to sign an agreement between Disaster Management Department of the ministry and UNOCHA, and arrival visa, visa extension and travel issues of foreign staff of UNOCHA.
