REPORTS have emerged stating that security forces carried out a drone strike in Naungyin village, Hsihseng Township, southern Shan State, which resulted in the deaths of a two-year-old child and a woman, as well as severe injuries to a man.

According to a security official’s statement, the forces were conducting necessary security operations to prevent terrorists from residing in the rural areas of Hsihseng Township. On 2 December, terrorists launched an attack from the surrounding villages using heavy weapons and drones. The resulting explosion from the heavy weapons hit the village, injuring several security personnel and killing residents.

The official added that reports circulating regarding the incident were fabricated by malicious news media, intending to cover up terrorist groups’ actions. Misleading photos and false narratives were part of their efforts to spread propaganda.
