UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 1 and 2 December, the combined teams impounded an unregistered TVS King threewheel motorbike (worth K7 million) in Chauk Township, illegal timbers weighing 6.697 tonnes (worth K910,955) in Myaungmya and Kyonpyaw Districts, and an unregistered Xero 110 motorbike (valued at K500,000) in Myaungmya Township. The action was conducted under the Export-Import Law and the Forest Law.

Additionally, the combined teams conducted inspections and seized an unregistered Toyota Wish (worth approximately K15 million) at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township, unregistered Toyota Crown and Toyota Alphard (estimated value of K22.5 million) in Kyaikmaraw Township, a Yutong bus (estimated value of 65 million) carrying industrial materials and consumer goods (worth K99.34 million) without official documents at the Milepost-352 on Yangon-Mandalay expressway and a Nissan Diesel tractor head with a trailer (estimated value of K78 million) carrying industrial materials (valued at K30.24 million) without official documents near a Max filling station beyond Singaing. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

The joint on-duty teams nabbed a Mitsubishi canter (worth approximately K40 million) carrying industrial materials (valued at K14.85 million) without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, industrial materials (valued at K403.17 million) without official documents from eight containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, and industrial materials (valued at K140.24 million) without official documents from three containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was conducted per Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 19 arrests on 1 and 2 December, confiscating goods worth approximately K916.76 million.
