Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Ms Noriko Takagi, Resident Representative of UNHCR to Myanmar, in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

They exchanged views on effective measures for repatriation of refugees from Rakhine State in line with the framework of the tripartite MoU between the ministry and UNDP-UNHCR, the extension of the MoU, UNHCR’s support to scrutinize documents regarding living in the country in repatriation processes, arrival visa permits for UNHCR foreigner staff per procedures, travel arrangement and accommodation of locally appointed staff and further cooperation between the ministry and UNDP-UNHCR in repatriation processes. Also present at the meeting were Deputy Ministers U Htay Hlaing and Dr Myo Thant, Permanent Secretary U Win Zaw Aung and relevant officials.
