Security forces engaged in regional security operations in Palaw Township, Taninthayi Region, were accused by malicious news media of detaining residents and confiscating public property.

These reports, which were found to be false, suggested that troops were involved in unlawful activities. However, a local security official clarified that the forces carried out security operations around the Khandi village-tract in the township and its surrounding areas but did not detain any innocent civilians or seize public property.

The official also stated that the fabricated reports were intended to instil fear into the public and disrupt peace in the region. They were part of a broader misinformation campaign aimed at misleading people about security forces.
