SUPERVISED by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.

During inspections on 9 December, the combined on-duty Customs teams impounded industrial materials and consumer goods (worth K734.82 million) without official documents at the Myanmar Industrial Port, a motorbike (worth approximately K900,000) carrying 12 gallons of smuggled crude oil (valued at K42,000) in Minbu Township and an unregistered New Anbo125 (worth approximately K250,000) in Magway Township. The action was taken under the Public Property Protection Law, the Export-Import Law, and Customs procedures.

Similarly, on 10 December, the combined teams nabbed a Toyota HiAce (worth approximately K30 million) carrying foodstuffs (valued at K9.56 million) without official documents at the Zathapyin combined checkpoint, three unregistered vehicles (valued at K113 million) at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint, 2.824 tonnes of illegal teak, 1.433 tonnes of illegal hardwood and 0.716 tonne of other wood (valued at K3.55 million) in Bago, Nyaunglebin, Toungoo and Pyay Districts and two Pickups (estimated value of K40 million) carrying eight barrels of illegal petrol at the Yadanabon bridge (Mandalay) checkpoint. The action was conducted under the Export-Import Law, the Forest Law, and Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 25 arrests on 9 and 10 December, confiscating illegal goods worth K937.73 million.
