Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken against illicit trading across the nation.
During inspections on 10 December, the combined Customs on-duty teams impounded 11.771 tonnes of illegal wood (worth K1.624 million) in Ngaputaw Township, 5.246 tonnes of illegal timbers (worth K520,150) in Taikkyi Township and an unregistered Honda CRZ (worth approximately K4.5 million) in South Okkalapa Township. The action was taken under the Forest Law and the Export-Import Law.
Similarly, on 10 and 11 December, the combined teams managed by Customs Department nabbed industrial materials (worth K516.168 million) without official documents from 12 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, industrial materials (valued at K441.5 million) without official documents from eight containers at Myanmar Industrial Port, consumer goods (worth about K30 million) with a mistake in country of origin at the Yangon International Airport (Export Desk) and industrial materials (valued at about K50 million) without official documents from MV MCL-18 at the Thakayta Port. The action was carried out according to Customs procedures.
Additionally, on 11 December, the combined on-duty teams seized 172 barrels of illegal petrol (worth K123.6 million) at the Kantalu combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township, nine Shacman Dump trucks (worth approximately K1.17 billion at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint, a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (worth approximately K55 million) carrying industrial material (valued at K72.433 million) without official documents in Singaing Township. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.
Similarly, the on-duty teams confiscated three Nissan Condor trucks (worth approximately K75 million) carrying industrial materials (worth K328.2 million) near Dawlan village on Myawady-Htokawko-Dawlan-Thayagon road and smuggled consumer goods (worth K8.912 million) in the high truck terminal in Muse Township. The action was conducted per Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 38 arrests on 10 and 11 December, confiscating illegal items amounted to K5.877 billion.
