THE Myanmar Police Force has reported the seizure of stimulant tablets, ketamine, ecstasy, and “Happy Water” valued at approximately K2 billion in the Mandalay Region.
On 17 December, acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, stopped a 22-wheel transporter in Amarapura Township. The vehicle, driven by Thein Zaw Oo and accompanied by Yan Naing Soe, was found to contain 34,400 stimulant tablets during the 5 pm search.
Following the interrogation of the suspects, police arrested Aung Aung and Ba Hein, who had arranged for the transportation of the drugs, in Pyigyidagun Township later that evening. On 18 December, Ma San San Mya was arrested in Amarapura Township with 84,000 stimulant tablets.
Further operations on 19 December led to the arrest of Myo Htun Aung (also known as Sai Dana Aung or Kyaung Saya) in Chanmyathazi Township. He was found with 5.5 kilogrammes of Happy Water, 8,640 ecstasy tablets, 0.2 kilogrammes of ecstasy powder, a Toyota Crown vehicle, and a motorbike. The same day, Hteik Soe Kyaw was arrested in Chanayethazan Township with 1.9 kilogrammes of ketamine, 9,600 ecstasy tablets, 9,000 Happy-5 tablets, and 1.215 kilogrammes of Happy Water.
Legal action has been taken against the offenders, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional individuals involved in the case.
