UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 23 December, the combined teams impounded two unregistered vehicles and 12 unregistered motorbikes (estimated value of K55 million) in Belin, Thanbyuzayat, Mudon, Chaungzon and Kyaikmaraw Townships, a Nissan Diesel tractor head with a trailer (worth approximately K73 million) carrying industrial materials (valued at K10.03 million) without official documents at the Yadanabon bridge (Mandalay) checkpoint, a Yutong bus (estimated value of K80 million) carrying industrial materials and consumer goods (worth K368.06 million) without official documents at Milepost-366/6 on Yangon-Mandalay expressway, and consumer goods (valued at K20.21 million) without official documents from the luggage carriage of the Yangon-Mandalay up train at the Mandalay station, and industrial materials (valued at K14.57 million from the luggage carriage-40029 of the Yangon-Mandalay up train at the Mandalay Myohaung station. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.

Similarly, the Customs on-duty teams nabbed two trucks (estimated value of K90 million) carrying industrial materials (worth K22.5 million) without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, industrial materials (worth K25.59 million) without official documents from a container at the Thilawa Port, and industrial materials (worth K642,03 million) without official documents from nine containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was carried out per Customs procedures.

Additionally, the combined on-duty teams captured a Sunlong bus (estimated value of K30 million) carrying foodstuffs (worth K4 million) without official documents in Phayagyi and the action was conducted following Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 38 arrests on 23 December, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K1.435 billion.
