UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.
On 24 December, the combined teams impounded two unregistered motorbikes (worth approximately K21.5 million) at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint and a Hino Profia truck and a Nissan diesel tractor head with a trailer (worth approximately K121 million) carrying consumer goods and foodstuffs (worth K16.18 million) without official documents on the detour round Kyaukse. The action was conducted under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures.
Similarly, the combined on-duty teams nabbed two vehicles (worth approximately K50 million) carrying consumer goods and foodstuffs (valued at K12.08 million) without official documents at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray checkpoint, an unregistered Toyota Alphard (worth K7 million) in Thayawady Township, and 1.338 tonnes of illegal timber (worth K223,158) in Pyay district. The action was taken under the Forest Law, the Export-Import Law, and Customs procedures.
Additionally, the combined on-duty teams captured industrial materials and consumer goods (worth K262.91 million) without official documents from six containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, and industrial materials (worth K45.24 million) without official documents from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 16 arrests on 24 December, seizing goods worth approximately K536.15 million.
