State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung attended the flag-hoisting ceremony marking the 87th Kayin National New Year Day in Myaungmya Township, Ayeyawady Region, yesterday.

The SAC member played the frog drum to inaugurate the event. According to the ceremonial procedures, they hoisted the Kayin national flag and saluted the National Flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Kayin national flag.

He made a New Year speech, sang the Kayin national song and concluded the event. He also enjoyed the Kayin traditional dance at the event.

The SAC member also attended the opening ceremony of the laterite road connecting to Konetha junction from Pwehngetsan village in Myaungmya township. During the ceremony, he cut the ribbon alongside Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe, Regional Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Moe Min Naing and local donor U Myo Win Aung, and observed the newly opened road.

They joined the 87th Kayin National New Year festival. At the ceremony, the SAC member read out the message sent by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the ceremony marking the 87th Kayin National New Year festival.

The region’s chief minister also made the speech, and religious leaders extended their wishes. Region’s Ethnic Affairs Minister U Saw Lin Khel read out the message sent by the Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs, and the chairperson of the regional Kayin Literature and Culture Association briefed the festival.

The SAC member and relevant officials presented awards to the Kayin ethnic people who won prizes at the national level, participated in the singing session and concluded the event.
