SECURITY forces of the Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge I seized 11 fake Myanmar passports from 11 Myanmar youths including Ma Hnin Ei Phyu from Taungdwingyi township out of three women who were led by Thet Nandar Win heading to Mae Sot from Myawady with TBP on 9 December 2024.

According to the investigation, Managing Director Nweni Hlaing Min and Director Khin Maung Shwe (aka) Bala of One Asia job agency from Kyauktada township of Yangon took K8 million each from nine people including Ma Hnin Ei Pyu out of 11, whereas Managing Director Su Myat (aka) Su Myat Nanda Win from Hlan Htet travel agency from 3rd floor of Central Tower in Kyauktada township took K7million each from two including Maung Kyaw Min Tun, to make fake Myanmar passports, and sent them Thailand from Myawady. They also arranged to send them to Malaysia from Thailand through illegal routes. The Myawady Myoma police station filed cases against Nweni Hlaing Min, Bala and Su Myat.

The Myanmar Police Force conducted an investigation, and arrested eight offenders, Nweni Hlaing Min and Bala from One Asia job agency, Wunna Zaw (aka) Ko Pauk from Hlan Htet travel agency, Nyo Min, John Ko Ko (aka) John Ko and his father Tun Yi who make fake passports, San Win (aka) Raphee and Thant Zin Oo, who offer jobs at John Ko to make fake passports, and send labourers to Malaysia illegally.

According to the confessions, Nweni Hlaing Min, Bala, Su Myat, San Win and Thant Zin Oo communicated Kyaw Swa from Malaysia to send workers taking K8 million each from workers, and they shared the money K1.7 million to Kyaw Swa, 20,000 Thai baht (K2.5 million) each to Zaw Lin Paing and Myo Lay (aka) Phar Yut, including K200,000 for general expense, and Nweni Hlaing Min and Bala shared K1.3 million respectively. They offered the job to John Ko Ko to make fake Myanmar passports under the leadership of Myo Lay from Malaysia, and they amended the data of passports at Nyo Min and gathered the workers in Yangon. They sent them to Myawady by bus from Yangon. When they arrived in Myawady, Thet Nanda Win from Myawady who is a representative of Zaw Lin Paing from Bangkok sent them to Maesot with TBP from the Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge I and through illegal routes. On arrival at Mae Sot, Zaw Lin Paing granted fake pink cards (TR-38s) and sent them to Bangkok by bus. He bought flight tickets to Bangkok with fake Myanmar passports and sent them to Narathiwat in southern Thailand. In Narathiwat, the workers were sent to the Malaysia-Thai border Kelantan by boat, and to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia by bus. Then, it was found out that they worked in Malaysia holding fake Myanmar passports and were taken action. The offender John Ko Ko made 734 fake Myanmar passports offered by 14 suspects including Bala and Su Myat. The Myanmar Police Force continues investigations to arrest the remaining offenders.
