The Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Dr Aung Zeya arrived in Beijing, China, on an official trip for the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund Project (2022) on 7 January.
The delegation met Dr Xu Wei, Vice-Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) at the SAMR headquarters. This meeting follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 6 November 2024 in Kunming between the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) and China’s Standardization Administration, as well as the National Institute of Metrology-China under the SAMR. These agreements aim to enhance collaboration between the two ministries.
Both sides discuss strengthening Myanmar-China relations, especially the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025. They focused on improving national-level scientific measurement, standardization and quality assurance. They also emphasized the importance of expanding and accelerating collaborative projects in these areas to benefit both nations, aiming to further enhance bilateral cooperation. — MNA/KZL
