According to reports, malicious media outlets falsely claimed that a shelling by security forces on 19 January set fire to and destroyed an oil mill warehouse in Kyaukhmaw Village, Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region.

Regarding this allegation, a relevant security official clarified that security forces do not conduct any attacks in villages or areas inhabited by local civilians, as these are not military targets. Instead, terrorists have been using various pretexts to launch mortar and drone attacks on villages and wards lacking support for their activities, spreading fear and chaos among residents.

In this instance, the official noted that mortars fired by terrorists struck the village, causing explosions that led to the destruction of homes. Furthermore, it is believed that malicious media outlets are deliberately spreading false narratives to cover up the terrorists’ actions and mislead the public into forming a negative perception of security forces.
