SAC Member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae underscored child labour eradication at the seventh meeting of the Myanmar National Committee on the Elimination of Child Labour, held at the Ministry of Labour’s combined hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

Union Ministers, deputy ministers, senior officials, chief ministers from states and regions and committee members joined the meeting, with some participating via video conferencing. Discussions include challenges in addressing child labour due to poverty, lack of education, and family financial pressures.

The Union minister emphasized that child labour eradication must be treated as a national responsibility with a long-term action plan aligned with the 2024–2028 national strategy. The committee also reviewed progress on resolutions from the sixth meeting and outlines steps for effective implementation of the second five-year plan.

Lt-Gen Yar Pyae urged all stakeholders, including government bodies and civil society organizations to cooperate openly to overcome obstacles and achieve tangible results.
