A Tatmadaw hospital ship ‘Thanlwin’ arrived in Cocokyun Township, Yangon Region, yesterday morning to deliver healthcare services to locals along the Taninthayi coastal region.
Medical specialists, doctors and nurses joined the ship’s mobile medical team to offer treatment to residents of Cocokyun Township and nearby villages, as well as communities in Hainggyikyun, Ayeyawady Region. Upon arrival, the medical team was warmly welcomed by local Tatmadaw officers and residents.
The mobile medical team set up operations at the Cocokyun Township People’s Hospital, where they provided healthcare services to 362 residents from Cocokyun and surrounding villages. The team treated 85 patients for general illnesses, 23 for surgical conditions, 26 for OG issues, 19 for paediatric care, 40 for orthopaedic conditions, 12 for ENT issues, 122 for eye diseases and 35 for dental and oral health.
A total of 12 patients underwent general surgery, while six received eye surgeries. The team also conducted 12 X-ray scans, 35 ultrasound examinations, 35 ECG tests and 58 laboratory tests. Eight patients requiring further medical attention were arranged to receive treatment at the nearest Tatmadaw hospital.
