Indian Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the humanitarian leader and peace envoy, currently in Yangon, met with the business people at the Grand Ballroom of Chatrium Hotel in Yangon yesterday and discussed the inner pace practices.
Also present at the event were Indian Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur, relevant officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, business people and observers.
The video clip featuring the need to adopt loving kindness for peace in the world and spiritual practices for a healthy body was first played.
The Indian Gurudev then delivered the spiritual power, successfully overcoming challenges with mind control, meditation and raising a peaceful mind gradually, and demonstrated the meditation practices with the attendees.
At noon, he attended the mindful practices and enlightenment ceremony at the National Theatre and lit with Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Indian Ambassador Mr Ahbay Thakur, Nepali Ambassador Mr Harishchandra Ghimire, Cambodian Ambassador Cheng Manith and Sri Lankan Ambassador Mrs Prabashini Ponnaperuma.
He also explained Yoga exercises, demonstrated Yoga, and introduced the “Celebrating Love” book translated into the Myanmar language.
The Indian Embassy performed Indian dance and the students of the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon) the Myanmar traditional dance, and the Art of Living Parahita group sang a song.
The Indian Gurudev-led group visited Shwedagon Pagoda on the same evening, and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and relevant officials welcomed them.
They paid homage to the pagoda and donated oil lamps, flowers and water to the pagoda. The Gurudev signed the guest’s book and made cash donations. The pagoda board of trustees presented the Shwedagon Pagoda image as a gift.
