A drug trafficking group was arrested in Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region, with over K7.3 billion worth of drugs, including 11 kilogrammes of heroin and 4.694 million stimulant tablets.
The arrest took place at 5:30 pm on 1 February, when two suspects named Zaw Min Naing and Zin Ko Ko Lwin were arrested in a light truck and a motorcycle along with the drugs. The drugs were found hidden in the vehicles.
During the investigation, more suspects were arrested. Among them was Ma Kyawt Kay Khaing (aka) Nang Mwe Lyan, who helped sell the drugs and Aik Sai, who was also involved in the drug trade. They were nabbed with 200,000 stimulant tablets. Khun Myat (aka) Nor Naw and Sai Thein Myat (aka) Sai Lay, along with the suspects, were arrested while in possession of a PRADO, further connecting them to the illegal drug business. The authorities continued to track down the group and discovered that the drugs were being stored in a warehouse located between 124th and 125th streets in Pyigyidagun Township and seized a further 4.694 million stimulant tablets.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 11 kilogrammes of heroin, 4.694 million stimulant tablets, 25 grammes of opium extract, and three vehicles, including a PRADO and a motorcycle used in the drug trade.
According to the investigation, the drugs were stored in a warehouse between 124th and 125th streets in Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region, which was rented by a suspect named Aik Bao from Wamhing, Southern Shan State. The warehouse was used to store methamphetamine and other drugs under the management of Ko Aung. The investigation revealed that the group was involved in trafticking the drugs with a 10 per cent commission to brokers. Among the main suspects were Sai Mon (aka) Sai Mon Lou and Sai Aik Yone, who were working with Ko Aung to sell the drugs.
The suspects involved have been taken into custody and the authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover more members of the group. The police are working to dismantle the rest of the network responsible for this largescale drug trade.
