It is found that most of the foreigners illegally entering Myanmar via some neighbouring countries are the ones to work for their own self-interest in the country.
The government actively cooperates with regional and state officials and security force members to expose and take action against crimes including online gambling and scams.
The security forces arrested 21 Chinese men who operated online gambling and scams in the Mongha region of Mongyai Township in Shan State (North) on 9 February. Appropriate action will be taken under existing laws.
In that region, from 5 to 9 February, the security forces arrested five guards of online gambling and scam operators, 48 Chinese men and two women, 18 Vietnamese females, five Myanmar men and 29 women, totalling 102 offenders, together with 260 assorted mobile phones, 25 laptops, 21 desktops, 28 keyboards, two Wi-Fi devices, seven sets of Starlink internet communication devices, seven arms and ammunition, 72 computers, five gaming machines, three vehicles and other devices used in online scam and gambling processes.
Systematic prosecution will be made against the offenders, and foreigners will be transferred to their respective countries on bilateral relations of the countries and humanitarian grounds.
Myanmar’s government cooperates with international communities including neighbouring countries to strictly handle exposing and taking action against those who committed online gambling and scams in addition to other criminal cases.
