The government is severely cracking down on telecom fraud and criminal acts by cooperating with the international countries including neighbouring countries, and systematically transferring the foreigners involved in these illegal operations.
The authorities transported 200 Chinese nationals, who illegally entered the country via border routes to run online gambling and telecom fraud in Myawady-Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, to China as per the procedures via Thailand on humanitarian grounds and bilateral relations yesterday.
The handover ceremony was attended by Deputy Police Chief Police Maj-Gen Tin Ko Ko of the Myanmar Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Deputy Director-General Mr Liu Ning Ning of the Criminal Investigation Department of Public Security of China and Thailand’s Tak Province Vice-Administrator Mr Narongchai Jindaphan.
The detained Chinese nationals were transported to China via Mae Sot Airport in Thailand, and Thai’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Mr Phumtham Wechayachai, Chinese Assistant Minister for Public Security Mr Liu Zhong Yi and Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw who is also a member of the Central Committee for the Supervision of Deportation and Transfer of Detained Foreigners for Illegal Entry into Myanmar, observed the transfer processes and met with the media to brief the repatriation.
The Thai Deputy Prime Minister, the Chinese Assistant Minister for Public Security and the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs discussed the quick transfer of 200 Chinese nationals for the first time, cooperation work with Thailand in the repatriation of third-country nationals by the relevant embassies and the establishment of solid system among three countries.
According to the confession of detained Chinese nationals, they arrived in Bangkok from China, and then Mae Sot. The telecom fraudsters took them to Myawady- KK Park areas illegally passing through Thaungyin River to work in telecom frauds and online gambling.
In Shwe Kokko, some armed groups are operating, and uncrrupulous businesspersons commit destructive actions including online gambling taking advantage of weaknesses in the rule of law and administrative mechanisms, they receive the basic requirements for telecom frauds from other countries whereas the foreign organizations made most of the investments.
The government exposes those involved in the Online Scam Centre and the foreign masterminds to take effective actions against them and actively works to transfer the trafficked foreigners and those who face hardships to their respective countries as quickly as possible.
