The Myanmar government continues its crackdown on illegal activities in border areas, including unlawful online gambling and telecom fraud. Authorities detained 150 more foreign illegal entrants yesterday in the Myawady, Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, who had entered Myanmar through unauthorized routes.

Officials are collecting personal information and records of those detained to facilitate their repatriation to their respective countries as soon as possible. Between 30 January and 24 February 2025, authorities have detained a total of 2,370 illegal entrants. Among them, 673 individuals have already been repatriated to their home countries via Thailand as per legal procedures, while the remaining 1,697 are prepared for transfer.

The detained individuals are nationals from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia and Chinese Taipei, with the majority being Chinese nationals.
