A total of 141 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar were further detained yesterday, while trilateral cooperation between Myanmar, China, and Thailand continues to investigate and combat individuals involved in online scams, online gambling, and foreign masterminds.
These individuals, who entered Myanmar via border routes through some neighbouring countries, including Thailand, were found to be involved in online gambling, telecom fraud, and other criminal activities in areas such as Shwe Kokko, Mehtawthalay, and KK Park in Myawady, Kayin State.
Officials collected the personal information and records of those detained in a single day to facilitate their swift repatriation to their respective countries.
Between 30 January and 2 March, a total of 3,474 foreign nationals who had illegally entered Myanmar were apprehended, with 757 systematically repatriated to their countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures.
