Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Kyi met Ms Christine Arab, Regional Director of UN Women Asia and Pacific Office, yesterday afternoon at the ministry’s reception hall.
During the meeting, they discussed the ministry’s ongoing efforts, including livelihood training programmes for displaced persons in conflict-affected and disaster-prone areas, support provided to survivors of gender-based violence, and the establishment of One-Stop Women Support Centres (OSWSC) to offer integrated services for women affected by violence. They also exchanged views on the implementation of the National Action Plan on the Prevention and Response to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and the signing of a Work Plan between the Department of Social Welfare and UN Women.
The meeting was attended by the deputy director-general (Operations) of the Department of Social Welfare, relevant officials, and representatives from UN Women. — MNA/MKKS
