Myanmar authorities yesterday arrested 253 foreigners who illegally entered the Myawady-Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas via land border crossings passing through some neighbouring countries, including Thailand, to run online gambling, telecom fraud and other criminal acts.

Authorities collected the personal data and records in just one day to transfer them to their respective countries as quickly as possible.

From 30 January to 3 March 2025, the government arrested 3,727 foreigners who illegally entered the country, and 757 of them were transferred to their respective countries via Thailand. The remaining 2,970 are also ready to be transferred and are currently being securely detained. — MNA/KTZH
