Special arrangements must be made to ensure the uninterrupted power supply during the exam period of matriculation, university and colleges from 17 to 22 March, said Admiral Tin Aung San.
Chairman of the Electric Power and Energy Development Commission, State Administration Council Member, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Admiral Tin Aung San, delivered a speech at the commission’s second meeting at the SAC Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, the Admiral said 545MW is generated to the national grid after the first meeting of the commission and more electricity is supplied to the public. During the short period, the Head of the State instructed the implementation of the solar power project, and the commission prioritized the directive by connecting the solar power plants with power grids to supply power to the far-reaching areas separately.
In the renewable energy development sector, it needs to check whether the imports are qualified or conform with the local and international standards, and it should follow the SOPs in installing and power utilizing.
He continued that due to the effort of the Ministry of Energy, the Yadana offshore gas field distributed 30million cubic feet per day more than the existing limit and it received 110MW more in the power system.
He then highlighted the role of natural gas in industrial, transport and fertilizer manufacturing in addition to the electricity sector, and the need to explore new oil and gas fields and launch new offshore projects while the ministry arranges to allow Standard Well in certain areas with hand-dug oil wells.
He added that the current refineries are being upgraded and reconstructed to produce quality fuel locally, aiming to reduce fuel oil import volumes. It also needs to produce quality fertilizer, which is a key agrochemical in the agricultural sector.
He then instructed them to inspect the illegal power usage by forming special task forces in Yangon, Mandalay and other regions and states.

Technology, human resources and investment are keys to developing the electricity and energy sectors. The electricity and power sectors are wide, and they can develop with the collaboration of all respective stakeholders.
Meeting participants reported on implementations based on the first meeting’s decisions, electricity and power projects, use of renewable energy, and other work processes and plans.
