THE government is actively cracking down on telecom fraud and online gambling, in addition to destructive elements, especially in border areas, by cooperating with international organizations, including neighbouring countries.

The authority yesterday deported 450 Chinese nationals who illegally entered the country passing through some neighbouring countries, including Thailand, to operate online gambling and scams in Myawady-Shwe Kokko areas of Kayin State, via the Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge II on humanitarian grounds and for bilateral relations.

Kayin State Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Min Thu Kyaw and officials inspected the repatriation processes.

Then, the minister and relevant officials, Deputy Director-General Mr Liu Ning Ning of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Ministry of Public Security of China and officials of the Immigration Department of Thailand’s Tak Province attended the handover ceremony, and the Myanmar officials transferred the documents to the relevant officials.

The authorities also arrested 244 Vietnamese and 26 Indians who illegally entered Myawady-Minletpan and KK Park areas yesterday, and the officials collected their data.

From 30 January to 13 March 2025, the government arrested 6,015 foreigners who illegally entered the country, and 3,213 of them were transferred to their respective countries via Thailand. The remaining 2,802 are also ready to be transferred and are being well cared for.

The government uncovers the foreigners and take drastic action against those involved in online scam operations and actively makes efforts to extradite the foreigners who face hardships and trafficked victims to their relevant countries.
