Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, council members, the chief minister of Yangon Region, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and the commander of the Yangon Command, inspected the Information Technology University and the Western Yangon Technological University in Yangon Region yesterday morning.

At the Information Technology University in Hline Township, the Senior General heard reports by Rector Dr Saw Sanda Aye on conversion of the Yangon University of Computer Studies to the Information Technology University, training session, sending students to pursue post-graduate courses at home and abroad, attendance of students from regions and states, internship of students at workplaces, grasping jobs, submission of papers to the International Conference on Advanced Information Technologies (ICAIT), and progress in construction of the university building, while Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw gave a supplementary report.

Asking about academics and accommodation for students, the Senior General stressed that students must be allocated at hostels systematically and arrange systematic housing and hostels for academic staff. As Yangon University (Bahan Campus) of the Information Technology University has fine traditions, it must manage academic measures benefiting the State, urging officials to beautify the university campus.

The Senior General viewed round the university and inspected the digital library system, training aid system, AI-applied training, practical works of students at K-Lab, and construction of supporting buildings, and gave necessary guidance to officials.
Arriving at Western Yangon Technological University, the Senior General heard reports on the accomplishment of the guidance given by the Senior General on his inspection tour in 2024, plans to construct more buildings for the university, systematical drawing of the areas of the university, the master plan for building the recreation centre, and beautification of the campus presented by Rector Dr Kyi Soe.

In his instruction, the Senior General urged officials to provide more facilities for the university in the coming academic year. A plan must be drafted to construct buildings in pursuit of the characteristics of the university. The campus of the university must be decorated with flowery plants and trees.

He inspected the progress of a three-storey lecture building, the construction of lecture halls and a stadium.

At Bayintnaung Park, the Yangon Region chief minister and the mayor reported to the Senior General on accomplishment of development plans on the guidance given by the Senior General on his inspection tour of Hlinethaya Township, construction of the multipurpose buildings, event parks, car parks, playgrounds, swimming pools and public recreation facilities at Bayintnaung Park in Hlinethaya Township, holding funfairs in the park with participation of people and sanitation tasks in Hlinethaya Township.

After hearing the reports, the Senior General said he saw some work requirements in efforts to ensure the proper flow of water and the erection of lamp-posts in Hlinethaya Township. Emphasis must be placed on proper drainage systems and repairing of bridges. The whole township must have a proper drainage system. So, work areas must be allotted in the implementation of a proper water drainage system. Pedestrian ways must meet standards in Hlinethaya Township where a large number of labourers are working in factories. Systematic plans must be adopted to ensure the greening and cleanliness of the township to create a social environment for dwellers. More plans must be implemented in Hlinethaya Township for its urban development.

The Senior General inspected drainage facilities in Hlinethaya Township and gave necessary guidance to officials.
