UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illicit trade are being effectively carried out by the law.

On 14 March, combined teams impounded 26 vehicles worth an estimated value of K1.860 billion carrying 58 kinds of industrial materials and 26 kinds of consumer goods worth K803.58 million, all lacking official documents, near the Hpaan Industrial Zone in Hpa-an Township. The action was taken under Customs procedures.

Similarly, on 15 March, combined on-duty teams seized 59 kinds of abandoned consumer goods worth K11.90 million near the Sinphyu checkpoint in Muse Township, along with an Isuzu Giga truck valued at approximately K80 million carrying two kinds of industrial materials worth about K27.06 million near the cargo yard in Kengtung Township. The action was also taken under Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 55 arrests on 14 and 15 March, along with the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K2.782 billion.
