A merit-sharing one-month memorial ceremony will be held for the victims of the Mandalay earthquake, according to organizers.

It is scheduled on 28 April, and prominent monks including Sitagu Sayadaw, Moekaung Sayadaw (Hinthada), Myazedi Sayadaw (Mawlamyine), Myakyauk Sayadaw (Yankintaung), Rector of Mandalay Sangha University, Myanan Sayadaw, Hitadhara Sayadaw, Shwesanpin Sayadaw and Shwesannwe Sayadaw will preside over it at the Sitagu Samvejaniya Dhamma Hall in Sagaing.

All Myanmar nationals are encouraged to hold such memorial and praying ceremonies at their convenient places along with the Venerable Sayadaws in this event, for those who died in the earthquake.

Since this event was made possible by many people, those who contributed large or small alike are also advised to pour symbolic water to share their good deeds.

The Myanmar Fire Brigade continues to carry out the clearing and recovery of buildings in Mandalay, and they recovered two male bodies from the Golden City Hotel and one female body from the Mercury Guesthouse building on 26 April.
