The Myanmar delegation, led by Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Daw Than Than Lin, yesterday virtually attended the ASEAN Finance Deputy Ministers’ Meeting (AFDM) and the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting (AFCDM) being hosted by the Philippines on 7 and 8 April.
During the morning session of the AFDM, representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and relevant committees presented updates on key areas, including the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF), regional insurance cooperation, cross-border initiatives, taxation, customs cooperation, the ASEAN Single Window, and treasury-related matters. The meeting also approved the Concept Note on the ASEAN Climate Finance Policy Platform presented by ADB.
Regarding the cooperation, the deputy minister highlighted Myanmar’s progress in implementing compulsory third-party liability insurance for cross-border motor vehicles among ASEAN member states.
During the session of AFCDM, the Philippines presented Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs), and the meeting recorded the Finance Sectoral Plan of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and ASEAN Finance Integration Monitoring Report (AFMIF) 2026, and discussed other matters related to ongoing work plans.
The meetings will continue on 8 April, followed by the 30th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting and the 13th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, scheduled to be held virtually on 9 and 10 April.
