THE National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw opened two new art galleries- the Buddha images gallery and the gallery of vehicles belonging to former Myanmar presidents yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs U Aye Tun, Deputy Minister Culture Dr Moe Zaw Tun, the permanent secretary, directors-general, guests and departmental staff.
Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said the people can study the changing artworks of Buddha images of Myanmar people from the Pyu era to date and pay homage to the images, and they can improve their knowledge regarding the vehicles of former presidents of Myanmar at the two new galleries. The museum staff should try to for the emergence of Digital Museum using IT as per the trend and it also should conduct capacity building to ensure human resources.
Then, Director-General Dr Kyaw Oo Lwin of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum presented the aims of launching new galleries while Director Dr Aye Aye Thin of the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) about the setting of new galleries.
The Union Minister cut the ribbon to open the two new galleries together with deputy ministers and director-general.
The Union minister and party visited the galleries.
During the paper reading session marking the opening of new galleries, three authors read out their papers, and the presiding person discussed overall assessments of the papers and concluded the session.
