THE Myanmar War Veterans Organization delegation led by Central Executive Com­mittee Chairman Lt-Gen Sein Win (retired) attended the commemorative ceremony of International Day of Peace 2022 virtually, which was held in Beijing, China, on 21 Sep­tember, at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Associ­ation for Peace and Disarma­ment-CPAPD.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 as defined by the United Na­tions General Assembly and is celebrated on 21 September every year.

CPAPD, the host of the “In­ternational Day of Peace Com­memorative Ceremony 2022” is a Chinese civil organization founded in June 1985 for world peace. It mainly focuses on ac­tions of international and re­gional disarmament and arms control, collaborating with civil society organizations in about 100 countries and more than 300 research groups.

The commemorative cer­emony of International Day of Peace 2022 was held through the hybrid system, where par­ticipants can attend personal­ly or virtually. Vice-President Wang Quishan of the People’s Republic of China attended it and gave the opening speech on the occasion themed “En­suring World Peace and Stabil­ity, Taking Action on the Global Security Initiative”.

Representatives and am­bassadors from various fields in the People’s Republic of China attended the event in person, and political organi­zations, peace organizations from different countries and representatives of the Security Advisory Panel attended the event online.
