A combined team led by the Region Customs Department under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 12 November.

Officials nabbed K16.94 million worth of foodstuffs without official documents from three vehicles (estimated value of K59 million) heading from Lashio to Mandalay at 22/3 Milepost on PyinOoLwin-Mandalay Road. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

In addition, a combined team captured a total of 5.2608 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K526,080 from a Hino truck (approximately K30 million) between 7th-Milepost and 6th-Milepost on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Hlegu township on 13 November. The action was taken under the Forest Law.

Similarly, a combined inspection team made inspections and confiscated K2,666,000 worth of consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a passenger bus at the entrance gate to Taunggyi township.

An on-duty team at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint seized 1,800 kilogrammes of liquid laundry detergent worth K1,440,000 from a Nissan Diesel (estimated value of K90 million) and the action was taken under Customs Procedures.

On 13 and 14 November, a combined team captured a total of 10.9744 tonnes worth K4,162,070 in the Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

On 14 November, a combined inspection team led by Myanmar Police Force confiscated an unregistered Lexus car (approximately K4 million) in Satthwachon village of Nyaungkhashay and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

On the same day, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint, the inspection team captured 300 pairs of lady sandals worth K2.1 million without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.

Therefore, 16 arrests (at an estimated value of K210,834,150) were made on three consecutive days from 12 to 14 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
