UNION Minister for Foreign Af­fairs U Wunna Maung Lwin and Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing ad­dressed the meeting with staff officers and employees who will serve at Myanmar embassies, permanent representative of­fices, and consulates-general yesterday.

In his remark, Union Min­ister U Wunna Maung Lwin highlighted the role of staff of the ministry as protectors of the country’s sovereignty in the front­line by diplomatic channels as mentioned in the saying: Diplo­macy is the first line of defence for not losing the sovereignty of the country and for promoting the international cooperation.

He also said the ministry systematically selected and as­signed the staff who will serve the duties upholding the national interest of the country.

Therefore, the staff should follow the five main diplomatic functions – Representation, Pro­tection, Negotiation, Reporting and Promotion.

He also called on the staff to be loyal to national politics, sov­ereignty and ministry in serving duties representing the nation.

Then, Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing stressed three points: to be all with the diplomat, be a good diplomat and keep yourself fit for duty.
