THE opening ceremony of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Myan­mar Maternal and Child Welfare Association (MMCWA) was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Honorary Patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of State Ad­ministration Council Chairman Prime Minister, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win, Deputy Minister Dr Aye Tun, the direc­tors-general, the MMCWA chair­person, executive members, sec­retaries, the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation and officials of relevant organizations.

Speaking at the event, Un­ion Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win said the government organized the MMCWA as a social welfare organization on 30 April 1991 to promote the health, education and living standard of women and children across the nation. The MMCWA also establishes clinics and offers healthcare services to pregnant women.

He also highlighted the pub­lic awareness programmes of the association regarding commu­nicable and non-communicable diseases and cooperation with relevant departments, organiza­tions and foreign associations to ensure an inclusive healthcare system.

He then expressed thanks to MMCWA for participating in the COVID-19 vaccination processes and called on the association to work with the Ministry of Health to meet the set goals while the ministry is providing the require­ments.

Afterwards, Honorary Pa­tron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of SAC Chairman Prime Minister, and Honorary Patron Daw Khin Thet Htay took commemorative photos with the attendees and observed the photo records of the association.

MMCWA Chairperson Prof Dr San San Myint Aung then de­livered an opening speech.

The association secretary explained the activities done in 2022 and the treasurer presented the 2021-2022 financial statement and 2022-2023 budget. The chair­person of MMCWA concluded the meeting after approving the meeting outcomes and future work plans.
