CHINA reopened the Ruili-Kyalgaung border, which had been closed for more than two years according to the Muse border merchants.

Both Chinese citizens and foreigners who live in the administrative area of Ruili and Kyalgaung must leave when authorities have to carry out disinfection activities. The Yunnan Province People’s Government Foreign Office informed the Myanmar Consulate-General about this.

The Ruili-Kyalgaung bridge was closed in April 2020 to control the spread of COVID-19 infection but was reopened in December this year.

Traders on the Muse border are expecting that the Mang Wein post and the Sinphyu checkpoint on the Myanmar side, which is adjacent to Kyalgaung, will be reopened soon. Trade is conducted through the Muse border, and it is reported that around 150 trucks are in operation each day.

China has reopened border trade and traffic after the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
