A medical team consisting of specialists from general hospitals in Yangon went to Myeik, Taninthayi Region on 9 and 10 September under the arrangements of the Ministry of Health and provided medical treatment to local residents together with specialists from Myeik General Hospital.
During the trip, a total of 1,213 local people were treated, and patients were examined with echocardiography, CT scanning, and other special medical tests.
The patients who received medical treatment included urban and rural residents from Myeik and Palaw, Taninthayi and Kyunku townships in Myeik District.
Two neurosurgery patients and six cardiac patients were transferred to Yangon General Hospital for further treatment.
Specialists in gastrointestinal medicine, neurology, and neurosurgery saw the relevant inpatients and discussed with local specialists about the treatment.
The Taninthayi Region Government comforted the patients and donated foodstuffs and purified drinking water.
The medical specialist teams have performed medical treatments in Sittway, Rakhine State three times in 2023. They have already visited Taunggyi, Magway, Pyay and Meiktila and provided medical treatment with more plans to do so in regions and states.
