THE 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition commenced with an opening ceremony at Loikaw, Kayah State. State Administration Council Member Porel Aung Thein, along with the state chief minister and regional command commander, inaugurated the event. Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin delivered the opening speech.
During the ceremony, the SAC member and the state chief minister supported participating dance troupes and greeted competing teams. They also met competition judges, urging a systematic selection of contestants for the Union-level competition.
This state-level event, running from 12 to 14 September, features 369 contestants competing for prestigious prizes in various categories. Additionally, contributions were made to a local monastery for new building projects. The SAC member later addressed teachers at the Agricultural and Livestock High School, inspecting student learning conditions and ongoing construction projects.
In the afternoon, the SAC member and state chief minister met the board of trustees of Kae Hto Bo and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Htaythama village, providing financial support to both groups.
