A 10.5 kV power cable was launched yesterday to electrify Panlon of Hopan District in Wa Self-Administered Division.

People from Panlon have a chance to consume electricity the whole day at present with the hope of seeing better socioeconomic development although they spent the period from 1995 with part-time electrification from the diesel generator, said State Administration Council Member U Yan Kyaw on the occasion.

At the ceremony held at Panlon BEHS, Chairman of Wa Self-Administered Division U Nyi Nap explained the installation of a 2.2-mile-long power cable in Panlon.

The SAC member viewed round the site for the construction of the No 1 water collecting well in the 2023-24 financial year, the Panlon Saopha Palace, People’s Hospitals in Panlon and Hopan, and the animal feedstuff factory of Khine Phyo Wai Co Ltd in Hopan Township.

At the meeting with local authorities, people and businesspersons from all strata in Hopan, SAC members U Yan Kyaw and U Shwe Kyein discussed the development process of the region. They then viewed the new Thanlwin Bridge (Kunlong) in Kunlong and the construction of 482-foot-long Namtein Bridge on Namhu-Hopan-Mongmao road.

Yesterday, SAC member Dr Hmu Thang met departmental officials, town elders and social association members at Chin State General Administration Department in Haka.

At the meeting, he made a speech, urging all to cooperate with the government in the restoration of peace and stability in order to successfully hold a free and fair multiparty democratic general election. The SAC member and officials presented quality seeds of crops and pearl fertilizer to local farmers.

The same day, SAC member Daw Dwe Bu met with departmental officials, residents and relevant associations in Tanai. At the meeting, she urged locals to emphasize the development of MSME businesses and try hard to ensure local food security.

Residents reported on the requirement for development of agriculture and livestock and regional development.

After presenting 142 citizenship scrutiny cards to students from BEHS No 1, she visited the pig farm with K 70 million assistance from State Economic Promotion Fund in the 5th-mile area of Tanai. On arrival at Myitkyina, she provided foodstuffs to the rector, staff and departmental personnel at Myitkyina University.

At the same time, SAC member Dr Ba Shwe inspected development undertakings in Maungtaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung townships of Rakhine State yesterday afternoon.

He viewed round a fish farm in Maungtaw Township, a broiler farm, monsoon paddy plantations in Buthidaung Township, and thriving monsoon paddy farms in Rathedaung Township.
