The Myanmar delegation, led by Dr Thet Khaing Win, visited the exhibition commemorating the establishment and opening of the Traditional Medicine Sector Development Economic Zone in Fanchenggang, along with delegations from China and ASEAN countries on the afternoon of 14 September.
Officials first explained the formation of the economic zone for the development of the traditional medicine sector, including details about the traditional medicines currently being produced and the various traditional medicinal plant species. They also provided a comprehensive explanation on the uses of each type of traditional medicines.
The Myanmar delegation then visited the gallery where raw materials for traditional medicine and finished goods were displayed. They examined herbal plants and engaged in discussions with those who were interested.
The second day of the Seventh China-ASEAN Traditional Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sector Development Cooperation Summit included a policy discussion on quality control and standardization of traditional medicines and raw materials, as well as a discourse on traditional medicine production and export. Additionally, a seminar on the establishment of traditional medicine factories was conducted. The Department of Traditional Medicine, high-ranking officers from the Department of Food and Drug Administration engaged in discussions concerning various aspects of Myanmar’s traditional medicine sector. These discussions encompassed policy processes, ongoing traditional medicine research activities, and the conditions for cooperation between China-ASEAN countries and the traditional medicine sector, as per the relevant topics.
