JOINTLY organized by the Southeast Asian Central Banks (SEACEN Centre), the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Central Bank of Cambodia, the 16th SEACEN-BIS High-Level Seminar took place on Monday and the 22nd SEACEN Executive Committee-EXCO Meeting yesterday.

Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar Dr Lin Aung virtually joined the seminar and the meeting.

During the SEACEN-BIS High-Level Seminar, Governor Madam Chea Sere of the Central Bank of Cambodia, SEACEN Centre Executive Director Dr Mangal Goswami and the Chief Representative of the BIS gave speeches respectively. Then, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mr Bo Li discussed the topic of “Monetary Tightening, Financial Stability and Geopolitical Fragmentation”.

Participants also discussed the topics of “Lessons Learned from Recent US and European Banking Stress”, “Geopolitical Fragmentation and Financial Sector Stability Risks” and “Geopolitical Fragmentation and Financial Sector Stability Risks”.

In the evening session of the seminar, the Deputy Governors of 19 SEACEN members, the Executive Director of SEACEN and attendees exchanged views on the topic of “Monetary and Fiscal Policy: Safeguarding Stability and Trust”.

At the 22nd SEACEN Executive Committee (EXCO) Meeting, the Executive Director of SEACEN and Governor of the Central Bank of Cambodia presented the prioritized sectors in 2024, budget estimate for coming year, strategic project developed by SEACEN Centre, matters related to the participation of AMRO and Asia School of Business as SEACEN strategic partners, staff appointment at SEACEN Centre and management system of the centre, and the Deputy Governors of 19 SEACEN members coordinated the discussion.
